The Ten Commandments

The Ten Commandments are not an isolated set of rules that come from the Bible. They were part of a Divine covenant that has been fulfilled in a new covenant established in Christ. They were a written version of a verbal covenant that had been made by God years earlier with a man named Abraham. The Ten Commandments were written on two stone tablets twice by the finger of God (Exodus 31:18; 32:15-16; 34:1, 28; Dt. 10:4). The first set of tablets were shattered by Moses when he threw them to the ground upon seeing Israel breaking the law by the sin of the golden calf. The second set of tablets were kept in the Ark of the Covenant (Ex. 25:16; 40:20).
