Your
First Visit to Sugar Valley Baptist Church
Visiting any church for the very first time can be a tough
experience. Where to go? What to wear? What time to show up? What's here for
my children? What can I expect? These and probably many more questions
surface. We want to put you at ease so that your first visit is refreshing,
friendly and enjoyable for your whole family. We want you to experience
inspiring music, helpful teaching and preaching, friendly people and a place
where you feel welcome and “at home!” We’ve prepared a few answers to
questions you might have about what to expect on your first visit. Sugar Valley Baptist Church is a country church located in the
mountains of NW Georgia. The church is a part of the Southern Baptist
Convention with many old fashioned ideals. We believe in the Holy
Trinity and that God sent his Son to die for our sins, and that accepting His
saving grace is the only way to Heaven. Map of Facilities – You can click on this link to view a map of the Church How will I find
nurseries, classes and services? We would like to
help you find the appropriate nurseries, classes and services for every
person in your family. When you walk
in the front door you can ask the greeter for directions. What are the services like? On Sunday
mornings, you can participate in encouraging and uplifting music, as well as
enjoy inspiring music from soloists and special groups. The music is always followed
by a clear, helpful and challenging Bible message. Each service is just a
little over one hour in length. Click on Worship Service to find out more about our AM worship service. We also have
Sunday evening services that begin at 6:30 p.m. Again, in this service you‘ll
enjoy the special music and a challenging and helpful message. We also meet
on Wednesday evenings at 6:30 p.m. for a mid-week Bible study. If you can‘t
be our guest on Sunday morning, we hope you‘ll visit with us during another
service time. The Children Awana is
currently under way at Sugar Valley.
Our Awana meet most Sundays during the school year from 5:45PM to
8:00PM. Please see Keisha Holt or
Kathy McFarland for more information. How should I
dress? There is not a
dress code at Sugar Valley Baptist Church for members or guests. When
attending, you’ll see people wearing a variety of styles – from casual to
“Sunday best” or jeans to what is considered "business casual.” Our
ministry leaders and many of our church family dress in more traditional
“Sunday” dress; however, our main goal is that you would feel welcome and
comfortable anytime you visit. Am I expected to
give in the offering? No. We don't
invite you to Sugar Valley Baptist Church for your offering. We want each
service to be our gift to you. We hope you will find a warm family spirit,
truth preached from God's Word and a place where you can grow in God's grace.
Please don't feel any obligation to participate in the offering as a guest. We are located about 8
miles north of Calhoun, Georgia on Hwy 136. If you have other questions that we haven’t included here,
just give us a call at 706-629-0893, or ask someone
when you arrive. Whether you're new to the area and looking for a church
home, or if it's been a long time since you've attended church at all, we
hope your first visit to Sugar Valley Baptist Church will be an exciting and
memorable experience! We exist to serve you and your family, and are looking
forward to meeting you personally. We trust you'll feel right at home from
the very first moment you step on the campus! Let us know how we can serve
you better… and we hope to meet you this Sunday! |
